Every season, Mother Lode Rugby runs into the same problem: we’re short on certified coaches and short on referees. Our kids keep signing up — registration is growing — but without enough coaches on the sideline and enough referees on the field, we can’t give them the season they deserve.
So here’s the ask: if you’ve ever thought about coaching, or about picking up a whistle, this is the season to do it. You don’t need experience to start. Level 1 is the entry point, and it’s designed for first-timers — parents, former players (and current players!), anyone who loves the game and wants to help.
And to make it easy: the club will cover your certification course fee.

- Saturday, December 12, 2026 — Level 1 Coach and Level 1 Referee — St. Ignatius College Preparatory, 2001 37th Avenue, San Francisco
- December 12–13, 2026 — Level 2 Referee — St. Ignatius College Preparatory, 2001 37th Avenue, San Francisco
- January 8–10, 2027 — Level 2 Coach — Life Chiropractic College West, 25001 Industrial Boulevard, Hayward (Includes a mandatory online session on December 9, plus an online closeout session after the practical weekend.)

Coaches are the reason our teams exist. Referees are the reason our games happen. Every certified coach means another team we can field. Every certified referee means another game that goes ahead as scheduled. If your child plays, this is the single most useful thing you can do for their season.
