U10 Rugby: Building Future Champions
Welcome to Mother Lode Rugby’s U10 program, where young athletes take their first steps into the exciting world of tackle rugby!
Who Can Play? Our U10 team is open to boys and girls who are 7, 8, or 9 years old as of September 1st before the season starts. This age group provides a perfect introduction to the sport, balancing fun and skill development.
Game Format
- 10 players per side
- Tackle rugby league
- Uncontested scrums and line-outs
- Safe environment for learning rugby basics
Why U10 Rugby? At this level, players develop fundamental rugby skills, teamwork, and a love for the game. The modified rules ensure a safe and enjoyable experience while preparing children for more advanced play in future years.
Practice and Game Schedule
- Practices: Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Livermore Park
- Practice season begins: December
- Games: Saturdays, starting in January. Finishing in March
- Game locations: Primarily in the Sacramento area, with occasional trips to the Bay Area
- Free clinics to try the sport out in Fall and Spring
- Optional summer season
