Get Involved: Volunteer Opportunities at Mother Lode Rugby

At Mother Lode Rugby, we believe that rugby is more than just a sport—it’s about building community, teamwork, and lifelong friendships both on and off the field. A big part of what makes our club so special is the dedication of players, parents, and volunteers who come together to support the growth of our teams and the club as a whole.

As we prepare for another exciting season, we’re reaching out to our Mother Lode family to get involved and help make this year a success. Whether you can give a little or a lot of time, there’s a role for everyone to contribute!

Why Volunteer?

Rugby is a game of respect, commitment, and integrity, and these values extend to the community that surrounds it. By volunteering, you’re helping us:

  • Host visiting teams and show off the legendary hospitality that rugby is known for.
  • Support our players with a well-organized, positive experience on game days.
  • Build and grow the club, ensuring it remains a place for kids to thrive and families to connect.

Volunteering isn’t just about helping out—it’s about becoming part of something bigger. You’ll meet new people, have fun, and help strengthen the fabric of our Mother Lode Rugby community.

Ways You Can Help

Here are some of the volunteer positions where we need support:

  1. Fundraising
    • As a nonprofit, we are always looking to secure additional funds so that we can provide access to good field facilities and provide annual scholarships to those who cannot afford fees.
  2. Referee
    • Officiate youth games and ensure fair play. The club offers training opportunities, and refereeing is a great way to stay involved in the game.
  3. Assistant Referee (Running the Lines)
    • Support the referee during matches by managing the sidelines—an essential role for every game.
  4. Coach or Coaching Assistant
    • Share your knowledge and love for the game by helping guide our players to success. No experience? No problem—our team will help you learn.
  5. Team Parent (Scheduling)
    • Help manage team logistics, keep players and parents informed, and coordinate schedules.
  6. Home Game Hosting
    • Organize food and serve visiting teams, making sure everyone feels welcomed and well cared for—a true rugby tradition.
  7. Tournament Volunteer
    • Assist as a field marshal, help with check-in, or support with field setup and breakdown to ensure tournaments run smoothly.
