Boys High School Rugby: Excellence on the National Stage
Welcome to Mother Lode Rugby’s Boys High School program, where we compete at the highest levels and shape the future of American rugby!
Who Can Play?
Our Boys High School program is open to all boys in grades 9-12. We offer both Junior Varsity (JV) and Varsity teams:
– JV Team: For developing players, typically freshmen and sophomores
– Varsity Team: Our premier squad, often competing at the national level. Members of the Premier league in Northern CA, one of the most competitive leagues in the country.
Game Format
– 15 players per side
– Full tackle rugby under World Rugby laws
– High-intensity, strategic gameplay

Practice and Game Schedule
- Practices: Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday
- Additional strength and conditioning sessions
- Practice season begins: December
- Games: Saturdays, starting in February ending in May
- Game locations: Throughout California and potential out-of-state travel for tournaments
- Free clinics to try the sport out in Fall and Spring
- Optional summer season
