27th Annual High School Rugby Tournament Returns to Sacramento on January 28th, 29th and 30th of 2011.

The Sacramento Valley Rugby Foundation (SVRF) in partnership with the Sacramento Valley High School Rugby Conference is proud to announce the 27th Annual Kick-Off Tournament (KOT) scheduled for January 28-30, 2011 at Granite Regional Park, Sacramento. This annual event, one of the largest in the United States, is sponsored this year by Fox Soccer Plus and SureWest, and the California National Guard.  This exciting event is full with 96 sides and will feature over 2,000 high school and middle school rugby players from California, Washington and Colorado.

On Friday night, The Causeway Classic of Rugby between CSU Sacramento and UC Davis will kick off the tournament. High school and middle school matches will run all day Saturday and Sunday. In addition, an elementary “Rookie Rugby” demonstration will be held during the weekend. De La Salle High School, a bay area football superpower will field a team, along with Jesuit High School, a 5-Time High School National Champion. Little Dixon will bring 5 teams including an Under 12 team, and Lamorinda from the bay area will field 10 sides, most of them Under 14 years old.
In keeping with the traditional rugby mantra, “Give Blood, Play Rugby,” Blood Source will once again have their Bloodmobile on site on Sunday encouraging visitors and spectators to “Save a Life, Donate Blood.”
Team registrations are filled but tournament sponsorships and advertising opportunities are still available to help ensure the success of this outstanding community event. For more information on the Kick-Off Tournament, or to volunteer,  visit the SRVF website at www.svrf.org on contact Ray Thompson at (916) 972-8977 or raythompson3@surewest.net, or Jerry Ahlin at (916) 804-4332 or jahlin@sbcglobal.net

PostHeaderIcon SVYRO Master Schedule

Please see the SVYRO Master Schedule by clicking the PDF logo below:

Please see the final 2011 Season SVYRO Conference Schedules.  Again, these are the baseline Conference schedules, as we understand that some of the dates and locations may have to be modified to suit the needs of the Clubs.  We understand that there are potential conflicts with other events, such as Vegas Sevens, President Day weekend, spring breaks, as well as field availability, etc.

We did our very best to make sure that most of the matches corresponded with the matches of the other Teams within a Club, thereby limiting travel conflicts, but there were times when that was simply not possible.  If you want to change the date and location of a Conference match, simply contact the opposing coach and work it out.  Then please e-mail the NCYRA and inform us of the change so we can update the Conference schedules on the NCYRA website.  The schedules will be posted on the website in the next two weeks.

A few comments on the schedule:

  • Boys Varsity Silver – Sacramento #1 is scheduled to correspond to Boys Varsity Gold and therefore is scheduled to only have one Conference match with each opponent.  Certainly more Non-Conference (friendlies) matches can be organized.
  • Boys JV (Frosh/Soph) Silver was aligned with the Boys Varsity Silver to the best of our ability.
  • The Under 12 schedule is left open at this time as it is anticipated that it will be more of a jamboree/tournament format (Dixon matches as simply requested because of corresponding Middle School matches).  A schedule of some sort will be posted in the future.
